Word Up, Sister!

People of the World! Listen up! Stop Breeding! Seriously!

with 36 comments

The breeding fad has been around for too long, and it needs to stop.  You people are doing this for the wrong reasons.  You don’t have children due solely to the urge to love, take care of, and raise a child with dignity and respect.  You are having children for the worst reasons imaginable, and none of you have the presence of mind to think about why you want this baby so badly. (I have found it is usually along the lines of “Gee, honey what would a child of ours look like?  Let’s find out.”)

Accidental babies.  “Oops, I’m pregnant.  Abortion is murder.  So, I’ll just keep it.”  First of all abortion is NOT murder.  Consider it a man-made tier of natural selection.  It is healthy and necessary.  Think of it as removing a tumor, only with a fetus you don’t have to undergo chemo therapy afterward.  Yes, it is hard to do, but so is raising a child if you aren’t ready or prepared to do so.   Speaking personally here… I am one of the accidental children and it was horrifying.  My mother had me at the tender age of 16.  On several occasions thru life, my mother would get very drunk, and sternly informed me that I was an accident, and that my life was the utter ruin of hers.  She married my drunken father, due to her pregnancy and hasn’t forgiven me since.  I know damn good and well that it isn’t my fault… now.  But these things are traumatizing to hear at age 7 and 9 and 14 and 15.  She’s a good woman, but she was never suited to be a parent.  Women who are not prepared for pregnancy are not prepared for motherhood. Simple fact.  Maternal instincts are a myth.  If you are “suited” to motherhood then you are suited for it.  But don’t hold your breath and hope for the love of poopie diapers and high pitched screaming to overtake you in a wave of ecstacy.  It will never happen.

Worse yet, some kids are born to women who can’t find stability in any other relationship.  If they are pregnant, they’ll often rationalize it with “at least a baby will love me forever.”  That is an incredible and unfair weight to put upon the shoulders of a newborn baby.  Shame on you!  Get a hamster!  A baby is completely controllable and has no opinions of its own… temporarily.  What will you do when they get older, you have to learn enough social skills to keep up with them?  When you want to live a life, wide in variety and freedom, what will you tell your child?  Remember your parents?  So, do you recall the unfair expectations that they laid upon you during your tender years?  Or perhaps you fondly remember their exceptional neglect due to an interest in other things?  They were put under the same pressures as you, learn from their mistakes.

Here’s a good one.  “My mother wants me to have kids.”  “My mother wants me to get married… to a man.”  I was raised to have the utmost respect for mothers.  Particularly those who are old enough to be my mother.  However, your mother had her shot at breeding.  She can’t tell you what to wear anymore (and if she can, seek help).  She shouldn’t be telling you when to breed, nor that you even have to in the first place.  That is your decision!  Stand up for yourself.  Be an adult.  You don’t have to have children if you don’t want to.

Let me break things down for you: Babies are cute sometimes.  This a defense mechanism provided by nature, nothing more.  One baby is just like another.  It is not a precious and individual snowflake.  It’s a yowling larvae sack!

Giving birth is not a “miracle”.  Pregnancy is a chemical reaction and should be treated as such.  A + B = Fetus.  It was perhaps referred to as a miracle back in the days when people did not realize that sex and pregnancy had anything to do with each other.  Women just brought forth life in those days without obvious cause or warning.  But now a days we are well aware of the cause and effects, yet the “miracle” is spreading like the plague.   Producing offspring will not… I repeat… WILL NOT make your life “all better”.  It won’t make your life “complete”.  It won’t heal your marriage.  It won’t stop your husband from screwing around.  It won’t make you more attractive nor cure your menstrual issues.  And that “passing down the family name crap” lost any meaning centuries ago, and it only ever had meaning to men (the selfish bastards)! It won’t provide you with someone who’ll care for you when you’re old.   It won’t even provide you with a guaranteed Mother’s Day gift every year.  These are lies and myths that you have been spoon fed from birth.  The moment your mother had you she started training you for making babies! Children have been reduced to vanity projects.  Happy to break it to ya, but you can get more love and fulfillment from pet store!  Get a cat or a hobby!  Volunteer at a Woman’s shelter.  Help raise money for Cancer survivors without insurance.  Take some pride in yourself instead of expecting a spit-gargling meat sack to fulfill all of your hopes and dreams with their mere existence.

Adoption.  Now that is a time worthy endeavor.  There are millions of children that have no one to care for them, with the exception of a government clerk that isn’t really required to “care”.   I have asked people time and time again why they have given birth to children instead of adopting.  I am often given half hearted excuses about there being couples out there that can’t have children and blah blah blah. This is utter bullshit.  There aren’t enough non-breeding couples to house these helpless children.  If there were, enough childless couples, foster care wouldn’t be such a nightmare.  But it is.

Others who favor childbirth, do so because they feel that a child won’t mean anything to them unless it shares their bloodline.  This line of thinking makes no sense to me.  If this is such a problem, then perhaps you shouldn’t strive for children at all…just a suggestion.

My reasoning for advocating adoption is that if you adopt you have to really want it. You have to jump through hoops of fire and fill out paperwork and be completely committed to the pursuit of a child. Instead of, just realizing you’re pregnant one day and hoping that it turns out for the best. Therefore, using a baby as a vain attempt to permanently commemorate a beautiful loving and magical relationship that “mysteriously” breaks up once the child is born and reality officially sets in. No relationships are permanent. Only the effects are. I personally would rather tattoo my boyfriends name on my forehead then have a child with him. The former destroys fewer lives than the latter.

Bottom line.  There is no reason to give birth.  Pure and simple. If you want a baby so badly, you should pursue an avenue that has some dignity.  Adopt a child, they are the ones that really need your love and care.

Abortion.  Along with popular belief I am all for it!  I saw a bumper sticker a few days ago (inspiring this little rant) and it said “How can you say there are too many children? That’s like saying there are too many flowers.”  Honetly!  I followed this woman until she parked and then asked her if she pulled dandelions and other weeds from her garden!  What are dandelions?  Unwanted flowers!     So, morale of the rant boils down to; be an adult and don’t breed.  Adopt a child or get a pet.  Educate our young women on the “miracle” with a lot more facts and less biased toward breeding.  Make birth control and condoms available for anyone who is physically able to use it!  Make abortion legal in all 50 states and keep it that way until we actually have some reason to give birth again.  Stop reducing our gender to the role of “baby factory” and have some self respect.  Thank you!

  1. I agree with all of this. If we are to solve the problem of global warming people must be discouraged from breeding too. There could be incentives not too breed from world governments. In each generation only some people who are psychologically fit to breed and take proper care of a child with a similar partner and both financially stable, should have to apply for a license to breed.
We would reduce carbon emissions a lot faster and have a population where the incidence of mental illness is much reduced.
Breeders are irresponsible and selfish. Many of them lacking in any imagination as to how to live a fulfilling life. They must be taught that there are other better options than having babies.

  2. Tell me more about your ideas, leahmeah. In particular, your thoughts on global warming. I don’t know how, but that connection never tripped my radar when writing this peice.

  3. I agree with this as well & tell people about it when I can. I think most of humanity has a self obsessed mental illness. If you guys havnt already, google vhemt, the voluntary human extinction movement. Its not a suicide cult & very positve & tatally on the ball.

  4. Totally agree with all that was said. Fantastic to hear words that i so often speak, much to the horror of some fools who live in a little bubble and cant see further than their noses! People are stupid creatures and have screwed up the world and everything in it.

  5. HURRAY!!

Finally someone who has the balls to stand up and say it! I voiced a similar opinion at work, and you could have heard a pin drop. It is always amazing how many people don’t even think about their precious little womb-droppings and their own egos.

I find child bearing absolutely repugnant and completely irresponsible. Far from being a eugenicist, I do believe we take more care in the (also) narcissistic breeding (homeless, unwanted) animals.

LeahMeah is stating the obvious – what good is reducing, reusing and recycling when we’re breeding these little earth-suckers with absolute disregard for our planet? People are horrified to think that their precious miracle is exactly the problem with this world.

    The ultimate recycling is adoption.

    Childfree by choice.

PS. “Spit-gargling meat sack” is fantastic.

  10. Its about time I came across something on this subject matter that makes sense. Women have children for one reason only, to validate their pathetic worthless existence. Having a kid allows you to retreat from work, school and basically anything that doesn’t revolve around the child. It is a get out of life free pass and its a ticking time bomb. I pity women who are too lazy to figure out what they want in life so they take the easy way out and have a kid. Pathetic.

  11. The American Government being part of a capitalist society requires constant growth to survive. The government needs your babies to drive its war machine. They will not promote decreasing population under any circumstance.
The more lower income children the better, easy to recruit into the military as the wage is attractive when private education is so expensive.
Basically the poor make good cannon fodder.
The Chinese have realized the population problem early and limited couples to 1 child (except in the case where the family proves to be able to support more children financially).
They really should make compulsory birth licenses for couples wanting children and make it as hard to have a child as it is to adopt one.
We really don’t need any more people on the planet. There are enough homeless to feed the demand of the compulsive breeders.
    Please stop breeding people.

  12. How can you stop “society”? Its in our nature to be sociable. We are but a handful of species that has sex for pleasure and society measures success by the size of your house, car and family. In essence, through the ages of religious and social indoctrination, we have been conditioned to live this way and I am afraid (VERY!) that, that will not change as society which worships the one true “God” (MONEY) will always leave it to the next generation to find a solution.
This planet was over populated at the turn of the century (THE ONE BEFORE THIS ONE!). We have exponentially grown into a consumer heaven for the corporations that feed off greed; everyone must have their colour tv, microwave, car, house… the land disappears under ever expanding cities producing ever increasing effluent.
Basically what I am saying is this; the greatest threat to this planet is not fossil fuels, global warming, pedophile catholic priests or nuclear weapons… its the humble penis! Its this need to procreate that has been BRED into us, lectured to us from birth and scriptured in verse that decrees that we all go forth and multiply.
Now a word of warning. Essentially this planet (nature?) comes with a few safe guards and I think we have already triggered them. Humans are a “cancer” out of control and believe me, nature (I HOPE!) has a few tricks up her sleeve to incise this “growth” from her. So far we have out witted the inevitable (SARS, SWINE FLU, EBOLA etc) but its going to happen and I can only hope SOON!!

      June 20, 2012 at 5:29 am

  13. I’ve tried telling a breeder with 3 kids that was talking about buying a hybrid car, why bother? You’ve already caused more pollution having 3 kids than any hybrid is going to make up for. If people really cared about the health of the planet for future generations they would stop breeding or at least stop at one.
In my opinion, having one kid is ok if you have to and only if your able to provide for it. stopping at one at least halves the population each generation which is something we should all be aiming for. Having two kids doesn’t help anyone unless the second one is adopted. Having 3 or more kids is just downright irresponsible. If a parent gets offended at your opinion on breeding, remind them that there are people who find children offensive.
Would you get angry at your neighbor pouring used motor oil down the drain out front of your house, well that is nothing compared to the pollution 1 extra person will do in their lifetime. These breeders need some perspective.

  14. I stumbled across this article while googling a related topic and I could not agree more with every word of the main article and the comments above my own. I also think that people should have to apply for breeding licenses and permits with fees, limits and rules. (So illegals and welfare suckers cannot leech off government money just because they popped out a kid.) I think being able to breed should be a privilege, NOT a human right. We have far more than enough people on earth as it is and before people start breeding again, a few million people need to just die off. I think if you cannot care for, love and financially support a kid, then you shouldn’t be having them.

    August 31, 2010 at 7:05 pm

    • I agree with you Eric about illegals and welfare sucking leaches who breed and only do it for the handout they will get. Tax payers have to raise the little monsters so that the parents can lie around and just get wasted on drugs and make more brats for my tax dollars to feed and support and then when that brat reaches a certain age it robs me or kills me .
I raised 3 of my own, and while I love them and I SUPPORTED THEM and saw to their education, I noticed that the stupidest kids in school were the welfare recipient brats. The government is encouraging these scum to reproduce just so they can get a welfare check. THIS NEEDS TO STOP!

  15. Unfortunately too few people share your sentiments. Things may change if/when the repercussions are un-ignorable and pervade every aspect of human life.

    October 26, 2010 at 10:19 pm

  16. While I agree there needs to be a global movement towards lowering the population, mention the word “abortion” and you’re going to scare off a good chunk of possible supporters. Better education and a realization that the encroaching 7 billion people in a world vying for material possessions derived from limited sources is NOT a good combination on a planet already being ravaged for its resources is the sentiment that needs to be carried across the world. People will call it blasphemy, but after one child, people should be fixed. Its acceptable for any other over breeding animal, but when it comes to humans its okay because they’re “people”, regardless of the economic and environmental crap they may likely end up in. I was reading a National Geographic article showing an impoverished woman in Africa with 10 kids. Unlikely she had access to birth control or proper education but nontheless poverty and famine arent going to be helped by having 10 extra mouths to feed, times that by millions of other mothers in the same predicament. We as humans need to be more responsible with ourselves and our world.

I will not disclose my name cuz you try to make me to

  17. My son’s father is will be 33 in two days. He has 7 kids by 6 moms and still going. He just left his new 1 month old baby girl and her mom for a new girl.
He doesn’t see any of them and he might be paying on one of them.

Men like him should be ordered to take a psychological exam or something after the first 2 or 3.
A couple of the women didn’t even know about all his children until after they got pregnant.

he’s taking away their right to choose a path from the truth.

The worst part is…no one seems to care!

You know how much money the tax payers will pay on all his children from birth to 18? Probably in the millions or even billions by the time he stops reproducing!

Ugh!! This makes me so angy!

While he’s tattooing under a fake name and living large, all the moms are on food stamps and possible welfare!

  18. MY GOD!! (silly comment since I don’t believe in gods or goddesses and so over used by the yanks!). Anyhow, finally someone brave enough to say STOP HAVING CHILDREN! Just because some old buggers in year 600 wrote a book saying “go forth and multiply” doesn’t mean you need to mount the missus every minute trying to produce off spring! The reality is that the horror they talked of when I was a kid of the world being seriously over populated has actually happened and IS happening! I can qualify myself to say this because as a 55yo male, to date I have not fathered a single human!

Now to the pleas for donations to feed the worlds starving…. shocking? Absolutely!! to see on your TV whilst sitting down to a sumptuous sunday roast (we still have them in NZ!) all the children with distended stomachs covered in flies, eyes barely open dying right there on television in the Horn of Africa. Hold on a minute. Isn’t that area mostly arid? Isn’t it prone to devastating drought? Isn’t it only capable of sustaining a small population of nomadic humans? So where did all these people come from? Well, sex for starters and greed for finishers! How else will you be cared for in your old age unless you have LOADS of children to do it? Right? Also, the neighbors have loads so why not you? Your religion says you are only successful if you pump out loads of babies (some prefer males… less dowry) so you are thought of as a big man in your tribe!

As I see it, there is little if any room for simple commonsense? If you can not afford to actually CARE for children, then find some other means of sexual outlet or come knocking on my door (or hit me every add break on TV) with demands for money to pay for STERILIZATION! (or at leased contraception!). NOT to feed children who should never have been given life in the first place! Maybe we should educate males that “gay is ok”? Or, make rugby a world wide sport (or any sport) where the husband says “not to night dear… the games on”… will require a lot of TVs for all these sexual romping villagers but we have to do SOMETHING and stop burying our heads in the sand leaving it up to the next generation to sort out or pretending Earth can cope with more and ever more humans! At leased it will help to not create more mouths to feed, more needing their own patch of earth, car, TV and all the other things that are slowly BUT SURELY destroying this very VERY small and fragile planet we all know is the only one within reach that supports our air breathing life-form!

Why is it you NEED to have children!!? Does it make you live longer? NO! Does it pay your bills? (NZ’s welfare system says it does!) but on the whole, NO. In fact quite the opposite! Get over this NEED to create another version of you! Buy a cat or something but for OUR sake, wake up to the fact that we have little more room for another you and another and another and another…..

    September 16, 2011 at 4:53 am

  19. Finally! Other people who share my view! I get slated for my opinions on childbirth and over-population and people get really offended when I don’t agree that their having children is a wonderful little miracle (yeah 7+ billion miracles – my god! The human race is REALLY struggling!) and they think they are so clever and special, and women like me (heading for forty and gladly childless) are some kind of social retard and not a ‘proper’ woman! My family consists of myself, my husband and my two adopted cats. Both of whom (a boy and girl) were neutered at six months. It’s no just people who are in over-population crisis and although I love kittens, I knew I couldn’t look after dozens of them and cannot guarantee them a loving home. Just think how many more cats there would be if I let my two have say three litters and each kitten had a couple of litters……………THINK BEFORE YOU FIRE OUT SPROGS! AND GET YOUR PETS NEUTERED! Sorry for shouting, but some things need to be shouted.

I too was an unwanted baby born to two violent alcoholics and my childhood was horrific. I haven’t seen my ‘parents’ since I was fifteen and what amuses me is that my estranged parents never enquired if I had children, they asked how many! I got in touch with a grandma years later and she pretty much said ‘where’s yer kids?’ Annoyed I told her I killed them for the sake of humanity. Oh the look on her face!
God I hate all this sprog firing! Spitting them out like pumpkin seeds.

I once saw a program on TV about a woman who did not know she was pregnant, and she got a stomach ache, and when she went to the loo to squeeze out a number two, two small meat bags (love that term) slipped out and they went ‘plop’ into the toilet bowl. I yelled at the screen ‘Flush it! NOW!’ Oh what a horrible thing to say about two wonderful miracle babies! Seriously, if she had have flushed the bog she might have got away with it. And why do people make such a humongous fuss over kids? It’s all about kid’s rights these days and adults get sweet FA. I mean for God’s sake, a rug rat loses it’s blasted ball and the police are questioning all the neighbours and wasting hard earned tax payers money all the time.

Please please please people! Wake up and smell the stench of over-population! it smells like rotting rubbish, shitty nappies, clogged drains and the death of the natural world……….Grrrrrrrrr. Come on nature, wipe a load of us out! I won’t mind going home early as long as my husband and two cats come along.

  20. So what happens if your plan is accepted and everyone in the world stops reproducing. BAMM! All of those millions of children are now adopted and now have loving families and everyone’s all filled with joy, la la la great world filled with happy people. But now you’ve convinced everyone that having sex and creating a new human being is a disgusting “chemical reaction” and should be refrained from. Unless your downright stupid you know what would happen in another century. You listed examples of the worst and most immature reasons for having a child. Reasons that people who haven’t really thought about the idea enough to completely resolve that they do indeed want to create a child of their own. Despite what you unfortunately believe, the birth of a human baby (or any living being) is a miracle, but especially more so in the human race. Creating a being that can grow-up in a few decades and develop a unique personality and possibly accomplish revolutionary things, is a nothing less than a miracle and I’m proud to be a product of it, of my parents. I wish you were too.
Yes it is also a chemical reaction, but that, as with everything else we explain with science, is just the way we perceive it, it doesn’t strip away the fact that it’s a miracle and an amazing part of life. I hate when people don’t realize that.
I wish you well and hope you will rethink some of your philosophies.

  21. Wow! I feel liberated after reading your article. That entire rant was so undeniably accurate on every point. A hell of a lot of people seriously need to wake up and think for one fucking second why their doing what their doing. I get so sick and disgusted when I think about how human beings are breeding like pigs. I find myself wondering…how can these people be so ignorant and selfish to think they are entitled to having children? I mean it seems like the majority of people never even have a thought about the problems brought about from breeding. I realize the classical conditioning of society has caused them to think this way, but still, you and I have broken from those bonds and can see the truth for what it is. It just blows my mind to think about all the people I have seen and talked to who have never had a thought concerning any of this! The possiblity that the children will suffer in this life, the burden on mankind and the world, the degradation of self to pure animalistic instincts, and the unawareness of one’s selfish motivations for breeding. I just don’t understand how people can be so ignorant and wallow in complete naivety. Your awesome for writing this, and the people commenting on here are incredible. It’s so refreshing to read intelligent replies for once on the issue of population and human breeding. I feel hopeless on this subject most of the time. Sadly it seems the majority of people will continue to decieve themselves or just not realize the pure selfishness that drives their desire to breed. I believe it will inevitably come down to the destruction of the human species. Whether or not it’s brought through the Earth’s wrath or human means, will only be known in time.

  24. I completely agree with you, I’m sick of seeing mums and buggies around the town I live in. The majority of them don’t even work or aren’t mature enough it’s like a fashion to have an infant these days. All the girls I went to school with have had their first child, well, they were known for being very provocative during my school days. I’m happy were I’m at child free, I’ve thought about the possibility of adoption someday but I doubt I would be eligible for that. The world needs to calm down with this over breeding and think about other species on this planet. We are not higher than any other creature I’m fed up with seeing people over populating which causes problems. David Attenborough is right we are a “plague species”. They should do a spaying and neutering for humans ha!

  25. Sure, some people are not fit to be parents or do have ridiculous reasons for it… But it is everyone’s choice. Plus, there is no possible way on this planet that they could even regulate it, with laws or otherwise. Humans are just like any other species- they naturally want to procreate, consciously or not. Also, though adoption is an awesome thing, it is the truth that people likely won’t have the exact same connection with an adopted child then their own, because their brain will not produce the same chemicals that will bind them to the child. They will love the kid, but not in the same way as if they had it themselves. Plus, if nobody had another child, the species would be dead pretty darn quickly. People just need to stop having /so many/ babies. There is no reason that you need to have those seven children. One or two per pair is really the only thing that would actually help. One simply cuts down the replacement for the parents who died in half, and two is a replacement for each parent. Both are acceptable. Honestly, and it will sound a little cruel, but we should stop focusing on the elderly and trying to extend everybody’s live by a million years. Yes, we should take care of each other medically, but it gets to the point that we are going against nature to extend our lives so long. Old people take up a lot of money too, especially when they can’t take care of themselves. Prisoners take up a lot of money. Money goes to a lot of people. Children are not the problem, it is simply society itself.

  26. Loved this rant. I wish more people could be this honest about the topic. I know too many folks who have had kids out of some twisted idea of an obligation to a spouse or grandparent. It never goes well and too often results in a continuation of this awful cycle. I have tried to instill in my nieces and nephews how important it is to think for themselves and live a life that they want to truly live. When asked what they really want out of their lives, they answer with things that are not compatible with having children. I point that out to them often and hope they can refrain from “accidental” pregnancies. They have been warned that there is no excuse in this day and age for not knowing about birth control or sterilization. I prefer sterilization. I wish there was a charity that raised money and paid for sterilization for anyone that wants it. I would donate to it often.

  27. I dont understand why people who want to be parents don’t adopt one or more of the billions of children currently starving to death instead of creating yet more children, unless it’s just racism or classism or the like.

  28. I completely agree. I too am completely fed up with this pointless procreation. Animals use procreation to make sure their species survives. It’s a primal survival action. Honestly, I think it’s repulsive in its current status. With us, our procreation will destroy us. Fuck.

Some friends of mine just had ANOTHER baby. >.> Yes, I am childless. Thankful my gf can’t conceive. All the facebook posts about this crotch dropping were praising it. Calling it a miracle.. Congratulating them. I just wanted to write, “Great, another mouth to feed in an already full buffet”. You know I would be scolded for not praising the little heathen. I know many in the conspiracy world are against population control, but fuck.. what is it going to take to stop these giant apes from replicating.

Children are over-rated. They are nothing but COST. $$$$$$$$$$$$$
They’re a lifetime debt. They’re not an investment. They will bleed you financially dry. I watch everyone I know with kids struggling to survive, yet they KEEP inserting their magic wands in the magic key hole. WHY??????????

It’s completely illogical. That’s it, I need to find a real break away civilization. One that keeps the numbers in balance. One that has figured out how to balance their world. STOP SPITTING OUT YOUR SLOBBERING MEAT BAGS. I’m sick of their noise.

I often want to return back to my earthly elf friends and leave the human realm. No wonder the elves won’t side with us. I’m for nature, most humans just mindlessly consume the forests like orcs. Wait a minute. HUMANS ARE ORCS. Smelly, violent orcs.

Ya know, I often feel ashamed of being trapped in a human assimilation suit.

  29. My thoughts on why NOT to reproduce are as follows: Creating a new human life I believe is truly the most unethical, immoral and unspeakably cruel thing a person can do, imposing life and all its sufferings, sometimes in the extreme, AND inevitable death on an innocent who can’t give his or her consent to “life”. My concerns are NOT about the environment or overpopulation. Every single person born suffers. When I see a picture of a newborn, I think “Welcome to hell, baby. You will suffer and then you will die. And your parents WRONGLY think they did a good thing.” I’m all for abortion – it spares a being from the hellish trap of this life.

  30. “Mistake” or not…thank god you are around to post this!!! I haven’t even finished the entire article and I’m practically falling out of my seat with the desire to print this off and tape it to every mailbox in town. What’s ironic, if you can manage to find humor in the thought, is that more educated, well to do individuals are choosing not to have children. Diversity is always desired, but it looks like our totem pole is leaning to new generations raised by low income, uneducated families that only want children because they THINK they deserve to have children. No offense, I’m not saying this is the case for everyone. There are plenty of people that have earned the right, wealthy or poor, but they are outnumbered.

In response to Maetricky’s retort to leah…if you cannot see the correlation between a rising population and greenhouse gas emissions, I’m already praying for your offspring. And that’s only one of the many side effects of a growing pop.

    • Well said. One TV program springs to mind. Benefits Britain it’s called, and the synopsis said ‘poor Marie is struggling to fill Santa’s sack for her eight children’. Poor little Marie struggling on state hand-outs. The poor lamb had to spit out eight brats (by multiple fathers of course) while we the tax payer have to pay for her to lie on her back, receive sperm in her vagina and fire out children like a pea shelling factory. What is worse is that the governmen then dutifully doles out hundreds of pounds to her each week while I work a full time job, have no sprogs and pay my own way. Nowadays if a young person wants a council house, they have to multiply to do so. Why should I pay towards this??? I have no brats, never wanted any and will never have any and amazingly enough, the world will cope just fine without me producing another planet killer. I also agree with Cheryl that making a life is cruel, because life is nothing but a unknown period of often intolerable suffering followed by death. Why oh why people?

  32. It has been 8ish years since I wrote this piece, and I still find it to be accurate and valid in every way. I still have no children, and I don’t plan to have any in the future. If I ever do want children, I will adopt.
And I am pleased to see that this piece gets so much support. Thank you!
